Building Local Capacities for Youth Policy Development

The main objective of the project ‘Building Local Capacities for Youth Policy Development’ is to include young people in the decision-making process and the creation of mechanisms for sustainable development and implementation of local youth policies. The project aims to strengthen the collaboration between civil society organisations and the youth policy creators in order to define measures that can contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic status of young people in the country.
Target groups of the project are youth civil society organisations, young people and the representatives of the local authorities who work on creating youth policies.

The project activities will offer numerous opportunities and benefits for the civil society organisations, the representatives of the municipalities and the local communities. The project will begin with the identification of the problems and the needs of young people that put limitations on the economic independence of young people in 3 municipalities (Municipality of Probistip, Staro Nagoricane and Caska), with the purpose of setting the starting point from which the civil society organisations and the youth policies creators can direct their joint efforts towards definition relevant policies in accordance with the priorities set by the National Youth Strategy of the country.

Further on, a training programme will be created in order to strengthen the capacities of youth civil society organisations and of the representatives from the local authorities for implementing the local policies. From the set of local youth policy measures that will be defined, the 3 municipalities will be the direct beneficiaries of the piloting of 6 measures aimed at improving the situation of the young people that live in these municipalities. The measures will be implemented by local civil society organisations, that will remain focused on the follow up and the improvements of the local youth strategy in the future as well.

In addition, the project will include the formation of 3 joint forums consisted of the representatives of the beneficiary municipalities, civil society organisations and young people. Finally, 3 public debates will be organised in order to promote the measures piloted in the municipalities.

Project activities will be implemented between November 2015 and May 2017.
The project is financed by the European Union.

The project is implemented by partner organisations Youth Entrepreneurial Service Foundation and Foundation Euro Center.
